Workhop at Elementary School no. 264 in Warsaw
Few weeks ago kids from Elementary School no. 254 at Warsaw visited us at Faculty of Chemistry, where they were doing experiments for almost 3 hours. Alhough some kids could not be then with us, we decided to visit them at school. We are very happy to do this suprise and visit them. Special thanks to our new volunteer David!

Meeting the history
Some time ago we attended amazing lecture about the history of the radio in scientific caffeteria in Warsaw. This back to the past was presnted by great scientific reporter - Krzysztof Michalski from Polish Radio, who currently lead the program Eureka Extra.
Did you know that history of radio started in Bologne, where the Guglielmo Marconi was born? He was awarded for his pioneering work by the Nobel Prize and his model of radio spreaded around the whole globe in just few months. The era of radio began, and at 1923 in Narbutta 29 Street the Polish Radiotechnic Association was formed. It took 2 years to emitt the first sentences into the ether to just a few owners of the radio-frequence receiver, but the development of the polish radio broadcasts was faster than its creators expected. In 1926 the Polish Radio was established as an independent radiostation and emitted regularly interesting broadcasts about the science, culture and entertainment. And, in spite of WWII it survived and emmits their broadcasts in four channels.

Meeting of the Heroes
Some time ago journalists from the whole world informed about unusual journey though an Atlantic Ocean. Unusual, because Atlantic Ocean was crossed in kayak by seventy-years-old heros, Aleksander Doba. He did ot for the third time and we never know if he will do that again. For Aleksander impossible does not exist and he talks about his adventure with the greatest passion we have even seen. It is never too late for life adventure.
Experiments and story about Maria Skłodowska-Curie
This time we organized our workhop in Milanówek Cultural Centre. We are verry happy to be here. Thanks to the Cultural Centre kids from Milanówek will attend workshops every month until vacations, while each workshop will be focused on different field of chemistry. Today, we started from the story about Maria, her discoveries, explanation what the atom and molecule is, and states of matter. Next month will be focused on the properties of chemical substances.

We love visits at hospital. Why? Because young patients are hungry of science and they are always ready to learn new things. No matter how long we stay there, they always want more. Their smiles after workshops are priceless! This time we also performed scenes from Maria Sklodowska and her sister life. Special thanks to dr Magdalena Warczak.
This time the chemistry-history workshop was organized at Milanowek Cultural Centre. Young scientists were learning about the life and discovieries of Maria Skłodowska-Curie. Additionally, they were doing experiments and learned the fundamentals of chemistry and physics.
This workshop enabled them to do exciting experiments, while learning about atoms, molecules, and the properties of house-hold materials!

Chemistry vs. history :)
Maria Skłodowska-Curie was the first person ever received two Nobel Prizes and the first received professor position at Sorbone. She changed the history of science and inspires young generations to follow their dreams.
This Saturday we spent at Źródło cultural centre in Pruszków telling story about Maria and doing experiments with young scientists. It was amazing brainstorm! Thanks to Wojciech Fendler, for being our volunteer.
This time, we have visited the family rooms in hospital in Warsaw, created by Foundation of Ronald McDonald. Young patients were doing experiments for a long time and we are very happy to see their happy faces! The main theme of those experiments was Maria Skłodowska-Curie :)
Here we are again! We try to visit young patients regularly. Each meeting is very emotional and we cannot wait for the next meeting!
Adventure! Once again Manufacture of Scientists was invited to the radio! This time talked about snow and dry ice. It was extremely nice evening!
Staying at hospital does not have to be boring. Thanks to the Foundation of Ronald McDonald we could organize workshops at hospital. Young patients listened the story about great mind, Maria Skłodowska-Curie and made a lot of experiments.
We have waiting for this day for a long time! Finally, we could visit young patients staying at Diabetology at Kid Hospital in Warsaw. We are very happy to discover fundamental rules of physics and chemistry together.
Winter regional holidays have started! For this occasion we invited young scientist to the laboratory. It was very inspiring meeting and we cannot wait for another one.
Workshops "Where do the atoms come from?" for students from Kids University
We have great memories from the recent workshops at Museum of Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Warsaw, where young students from the Kids University were learning the fundamentals of the structure of matter. They were learning about the atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, radioacyivity, periodic table of elements as well as about the discoveries and life of Maria Skłodowska-Curie. It was very fruitful weekend.
We are very lucky to have a chance to meet so many kids and teens who love science. Each meeting is different and extremely inspirational. They share with us their passion and ask many interesting questions. We cannot wait for the nearest workshop!

Adventure with the students of the Kids University
Last weekend we have visited the Museum of Maria Skłodowska-Curie, where together with other volunteers we organized workshops "Where do the atoms come from?". Students from the Kids University learned about the origin of the universe, fundamental components of the matter, thay made the simulation of the "big bang" and about the radioactivity and nuclear chemistry. Among many interesting subjects the life and discoveries of Maria Skłodowska-Curie were presented. For this occasion together with students we have build the models of radium and polonium. Finally, after 4 weekends 700 students participated in those workshops. We are very happy to meet them all!
This time our classes took place at the Museum of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Warsaw, where students from the Kids University explored science. They were learning about the matter, protones, electrones,neutrones, radioactivity, elements and discoveries of Maria.

That was spectacular evening! Just few days ago we arrived from US and we received invitation for the gala, organized for the 150th anniversary of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie birthday as the part of the conference "Medicina-Scientia-Cultura" - organized by the Museum of Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Polish Society of Chemistry.
We are honored to meet the main guests - Hélène Langevin-Joliot - professor of nuclear chemistry and Pierre Joliot - professor of biochemistry, grandchildren of the Maria. The gala took place at the Main Hall of the Warsaw University of Technology. Whole program was inspiring and full of history, address of the guests, amazing music, the premiere of the Symphony dedicated to Maria - performed by Warsaw Chamber Orchestra, and Multimedia Dance Show.

We already participated the Euro Kids Festival and Embassy Adoption Program in Washington, D.C. in US. We are extremely happy to have a chance to represent Poland this year.

The Bilingual Day is an important festival for Poles, who live abroad. It remind benefits of bilingual education and its importance in the life of Polish communities, Poland and the other countries in which Poles live. The knowledge of Polish language gives the young representatives of the Polish communities an opportunity to understand the changes taking place in all aspects of life in Polnad in recent 25 years. The Bilingual Day is celebrated annually since 20165. The organisers and originators of such event are Dobra Polska Szkoła Foundation from New York and the Education for Democracy Foundation. Initiative is also supported and co-funded by Ministry of Foreignn Affairs of the Republic of Poland and Parliament of Poland as a part of the project "Collaboration with Polonia and Polish People living abroad".
This year we actively joined this event through organization of the chemical workshops for kids entitled "Workshop with Maria Skłodowska-Curie" in various destinations in Michigan State in US. Recent event took place in the American-Polish Cultural Center in Troy, near the Detroit. Thanks to the collaboration with Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington DC, Polish Cultural Institute in New York, Museum of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Warsaw and The Polish Mission in the Michigan we organized our workshops in several towns.
The main aim of those workshops is to show kids that science is amazing, present how the science and nature works through simple hands-on experiments, and to tell them the story about the Maria Skłodowska-Curie, who was the first woman in the history, who was the professor at the french Sorbonne, first Nobel prize winner and the only woman who was awarded twice!
The Bilingual Day is also the adventure and the opportunity to meet interesiting people. We are very happy that we met amazing team from Chicago "The Little Stars" who organizes theatrical workshops and performes for kids at Copernicus Theater in US. During the Billingual Day they performed "The Cindrella" and the audcience was enchanted with this show. Thank you "The Little Stars" for the meeting in Royal Oak, Troy, Orchard Lake and Detroit!

Another Day, new place - this time we have visited the Polish School Hamtramck in Michigan, where kids had an opportunity to hear the story about the Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie, and make simple hand-on experiments to learn more about the chemistry and physics.
We are glad to visit this interesting place. The Polish School at Hamtramck organizes classes in many fields for kids each Saturday. We are impressed of their educational program, amount of books stored here, and the attitude of teachers. The youngest scholars are just three years old, while the oldest are attending the classes dedicated for high school age.
In spite of the short stay in the Hamtramck that was very fruitful day. Special acknowledgements to the Marzanna Owiński, who invited us!
This October is full of adventures! At the same day when we have arrived to the Michigan, we had two workshops at Orchard Lake. Billingual Day gives us a chance to meet polish and american scholars, who are attending daily the same classes at the Polish School and St. Mary's College at Orchard Lake. Besides those schools also The Polish Mission is located in such amazing land full of lakes and greens.
We are proud to have the opportunity to represent our country during the Kids Euro Festival 2017 and the Bilingual Day. With the great plasure we show kids that science is everywhere and that they can learn through fun using household materials to create interesting chemical reactions. During workshops we made experiments, observations and discuss about conclusions through baking soda volcano eruption, pH measurement, self-pumping balloon and crazy foam experiments. Everything interleaved with the story of the Maria.
Embassy Adoption Program (EAP) is unique educational program dedicated for the fifth and sixth grade students attending DC Public Schools.
Kids can learn about the language, customs, history and culture of their partner’s home country and culture. This year Embassy of the Republic of Poland in DC under collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute in New York invited to participate in this event. We are honored to organize workshops for scholars from the Stuart Hobson Middle School.
We are extremely happy that almost 100 people were attending our workshops and listening the stories about polish scientist - Maria Skłodowska-Curie.

Delegation of Poland to US for Kids Euro Festival 2017!
With programs both for the general public and for school groups, more than 10,000 DC-area children and their families enjoy Kids Euro Festival programs each year.
We are honored to participate in this great event and represent Poland this year at Kids Euro Festival! Special akcnowledgements to Embassy of Republic of Poland and Polish Cultural Institute in New York.
This year marks the 150th birthday anniversary of the famous Maria Skłodowska-Curie. A Polish-born physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity, she was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to win twice, and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two different sciences. She is an excellent role model for youngsters.
Our workshop combined science and theatre with the pioneering personality of Maria Skłodowska-Curie. Participants were learning through exciting hands-on experiments and scenes from Curie’s life, performed by the team from the Manufacture of Scientists.
This time we had energetic duo: dr. habil. Magdalena Łabieniec-Watała from Lodz University and dr. Magdalena Osial from University of Warsaw. M&M duo was performing the scenes from the Maria's life, who was not only a scientists, but also a mother, usual girl and with extraordinary dreams. We are proud or Maria and lucky to have a chance to spread the knowledge about Maria's discoveries at the other side of the ocean.

Children were radiating with happiness as they discovered not only the fascinating world of science but also their potential to become scientists themselves. Moreover, they promised to never give up and always follow they dreams just like Maria. Iw was great challenge to be here. Why? Participants came prepared to ask very difficult and interesting questions. We are happy to be here!
During Kids Euro Festival we spent interesting moments also in the Embassy of RP in DC. Embassy was established in 1919 as one of Poland's first foreign missions after the country regained independence in 1918. The Embassy's four-story building was designed by renowned architect George Oakley Totten for Senator John B. Henderson (Missouri's Senator, 1862-69). Completed in 1910, the building was purchased by Poland's first envoy to the United States, Kazimierz Lubomirski, in 1920. Very few changes have been made to the house's architecture throughout the years. Our first visit in this place full of works of outstanding Polish painters, including Jacek Malczewski, Wojciech Falat and Jan Styka was before meeting with scholars from the H.D. Cooke Elementary School.
One day - many events :) Next to the visit at Embassy we arrived to the H.D. Cooke Elementary School in DC. Our workshop included an introduction on Maria Skłodowska-Curie, including her upbringing in Poland as well as her studies and research work in France. Afterwards we jumped into the science phase, conducting numerous fun and eye-catching experiments and recreating a laboratory setting similar to the one in which Maria Skłodowska-Curie spent so much time working throughout her life.

Let's look at those happy faces. Our workshop took much longer than regular class at school so we are more than happy that in spite of the long time of the workshop our participants wanted to make experiments forever!
We hope that this is not the last time when we are in this magical place!
Each participant took a small souvenir. Thanks to the Polish Embassy in DC and Polish Cultural Institute in New York we had prepared 500 badges with the logo of the project and the Kids Euro Festival 2017.
Moreover the Polish Embassy gave to the participants Teddy Bears, bookmarks and other souvenirs.
Whenever we visited scholars, wherever we organized the workshops - Maria's portrait, map of Europe, periodic table of elements, labcoats and lab equipment were always with us. The clothing we wear at our workshops is inspired by clothing that Maria Skłodowska-Curie would have worn when she. We use it to illustrate first and foremost, the style of women’s clothing in the early 20th century. Why? Because our workshop is not only about chemistry. It is about the history of the Maria, Poland, motivation and creativity. For us the participance in the Kids Euro Festival 2017 is more than the adventure! It is fascinating lesson of local culture, educational system and life.
